Second Photographer
for Hire
I love people and I am passionate about helping others. When I am behind the lens, I strive to document connections and genuine emotions between loved ones.
Why second shooting?
As a photographer I specialize in family connections, everything from fresh 48 sessions to weddings, I have enjoyed these magical moments for over 12 years. Last year I took a hiatus from the wedding side of photography while my husband and I embarked on some major renovations to our home. During that break I discovered a few truths. I loved the extra time I found with my family, but I missed creating art for bride and grooms. I missed the fluffy white dresses, the smell of a buffet dinner, and dancing beats from the DJ. Switching from a first-hand photographer to second allows me a stress-free way to create and capture special moments without the extended hours of client meetings and editing. I have no interest in running my own wedding photography business again, but I would love to extend my experience and skills to wedding photographers in need, during their busy season.
My Experience
I know weddings! My experience working weddings began as a waitress, I worked at a banquet hall setting up and managing countless large events including backyard weddings. I have had the honor of being part of 7 different bridal parties and I was a wedding planner who coordinated 3 weddings, including hosting one in my very own backyard. Oh, and did I mention, I am an Ordained Minister?
These experiences have allowed me to develop an understanding for all perspectives during a wedding day. Knowing a wedding itinerary forward and back allows me to know where to be and when every special moment can be documented. I know the stress and if I can put myself in the shoes of everyone at a wedding event, it gives me the upper hand in assisting you and ensuring the day runs smooth.
What I can do for YOU!
Photograph
This might be the most important reason for hiring me. This is where I create art for you and your clients. Multiply angles, wide and tight shots, environmental and detailed shots. My favorite task is capturing emotional candid shots of guests that highlight personality. It will look like you were in two places at once with our coordinating photos. I will avoid shooting over your shoulder. I will be looking for other interesting angels and fun lighting, while making sure I’m not in your shots and you aren’t in mine. Never worry about out of focus shots or over exposed images, I pride myself on quality. You can be confident knowing I’m able to work alone to get amazing photos of the groomsmen, end of the aisle shots, and fun shots of guests during cocktail hour.
Assist
I will try to anticipate your needs before you even know you need it. I will help you stay on track with the day’s itinerary and get those tedious tasks done. I want us to be organized and on the same page throughout the day. I can manage your shot list and help arrange family members for group shots, making sure the bride and groom get every photo on their list. I’ll have your batteries, memory cards, snacks and water ready when you need them. I also carry the just in case items like tide wipes, bandages, tissues, and a mini sewing kit.
Pose
Posing is one of my specialties. There's nothing worse than awkward poses. Exposure aside, it can really make or break a photo. Not only will I make sure everyone’s hands are folded the same and toes pointed forward, but I will help fluff dresses and adjust boutonnieres. As we all know fixing those little details during the shot will trim down your editing time and every detail counts. I know many prompts and ques to engage with the models to get those authentic unscripted reactions. I enjoy entertaining the bridal party during shooting, so you can concentrate on working magic with the camera.
Professionalism
I will check in with you frequently before and after the wedding day to make sure I meet your expectations. Being early is being on time for me. You can count on me! First things I do when I arrive; put my watch on, my phone away, and sync my camera time settings with yours. I always dress professional when I shoot weddings. I usually wear all black or light toned neutral colors on hot summer days, with my comfy shoes ready for a day on my feet. My outfit is always modest so that I can move freely to get those interesting shots. I always wear a smile and bring joyful energy. I understand as your second shooting I am carrying your brand, so professionalism is key, but I also know how to read a room. If it’s a PARTY type of wedding… I’ll be ready with my funny stories, willing to shake a leg on the dance floor.
Communicate
I like to introduce myself to everyone. This allows for open communication throughout the day. I believe communication is important and I am comfortable speaking to the vendors, minister, wedding planner, guests and the bride and groom on your behave to ensure the day runs smooth. I am comfortable asking guests to stand aside, or to ask “Uncle Bob” with his camera to sit back and just enjoy the ceremony. I can pick up on clues when a groomsman needs a glass of water, grandma needs a seat, or the kids need a break. I understand there are times when things don’t go as planned but and I am always willing to make the best of a bad situation with compassion, care and problem solving.
Grow Your Business
I want to be your cheer leader and create a friendship with you. I’d love to help you grow your business and I’m pleased to pass out your business cards to anyone inquiring who you are. I can take behind the scenes shots of you in action, or photos with you and your clients so you can use them for your social media and website. I can even take iphone videos if growing your business on TikTok is your jam. I want you to be successful so that I can be successful, hoping to work with you again and again.
Striving To Be The Best
I believe there’s always something new to learn. I am open to being coached and am ready to adapt to your needs right away. I believe we are never done learning and I look forward to new experiences and adopting new skills. After each wedding I would love the opportunity to review the day’s events and I would be grateful to receive feedback so that I may better assist you in the future.
